QUAKE II + Mission Packs : Ground Zero & The Reckoning

Straight from the Quake IV bonus disc, ripped by myself, tested & working : the legendary game that tought so many of us the fine art of the First Person Shooter + its two mission packs!



While a sequel in name, Quake II's story had little to do with the first game in the series. You play a space marine very much alone on the Strogg's home planet after a massive troop drop goes horribly wrong. You'll battle through Stroggos until you finally meet the leader of this relentless race, the Makron face to...face? Another Quake means that the FPS online scene got another boost with more raw Deathmatch action as well as the now offically supported CTF mode.

While the original was a fine game, it had a little problem of only looking nice on those expensive 3Dfx video cards. Quake II, meanwhile, was much more forgiving, and many of us took it into our hardcore hearts and fragged each other into delightful oblivion until the wee hours of the morning. It offered a streamlined and fluid brutality that's still satisfyingly memorable all these years later. It was also quite friendly to amateur creators, granting the community a treasure chest of maps, character models, character skins, game modes, and more.



GROUND ZERO
New enemies: get ready to face the toughest horde of Stroggs, straight from the bio-vats, the Stalker, turrets, daedalus, medic commander, carrier and the Queen ~censored~ herself, the Black widow.

Fourteen entirely new levels and 10 new deathmatch levels: Brand new real estate with the same dynamic sense of reality and dynamic visuals as Quake 2. These new environments will challenge even the biggest Quake 2 aficionado.

New power-ups: Tag'em and Bag'em. Deathmatch specific power-ups: the Vengeance sphere, hunter sphere and anti-matter bomb. With everything that we've cooked up for you here, you are sure to annihilate anyone or anything foolish enough to call for you.

New Weapons: the chainsaw, ETF Rifle and Plasma Beam. If you can't get the job done with these babies, it's time to go back to the basics.

THE RECKONING
You are part of an elite commando force that must infiltrate a hostile alien city. Once inside, you must scour industrial landscapes, crawl through waterways and air ducts, navigate treacherous canyons teeming with vicious mutants, stow away on an alien spacecraft, and destroy the enemy's secret moon base.

Eighteen arduous levels to conquer, added weapons to wield, fresh foes to defeat and breathtaking environments to explore make Quake 2 Mission Pack--The Reckoning the one to have.






EDIT!!!
For those who find the game too dark (and I mean literally too dark!) : locate the file called config.cfg in your baseq2-map and do the following :
- add set intensity "2.0" to the list of mumbo-jumbo you can read here
- locate where it's written set gl_modulate "1.0" and change it to set gl_modulate "3.0"
