Description:

The hero of the story is Shinbu, a young swordsman dedicated to perfecting his martial arts. He's a former disciple of Seiryu, but fell from the graces of his nation's military sect when his curiosity got the better of him and he discovered some forbidden fighting techniques. But Shinbu is a good-natured guy and not a rebel--he'd like nothing better than to regain his good standing. The problem is, it seems the other Seiryu disciples have been wiped out. So Shinbu sets off on a journey to figure out what's going on, which will take him all across the country of Ouka and its different regions, each one named for and inspired by a monstrous god (Seiryu, for instance, is a blue dragon). During his adventure, he'll meet all manner of friend and foe, and many of these characters are quite compelling, thanks to some excellent character design and lots of high-quality speech. However, the story itself is rather dense and fairly predictable, though it's perfectly serviceable stuff to carry a role-playing game.

Although the game has more to do with the recent cartoon, I’ll always remember Muscles as inch-tall pinkish plastic men of strange proportions from about 15-years ago. And strangely enough the kind of on-screen action in UM is entirely reminiscent of the kind of mayhem that went on in my imagination. The cel-shaded style is completely whacked out and suits UM, especially the powerful Level 3 finishing moves that play out along the lines of Def Jam Vedetta (another wrestling game from Aki Corp), like an action-packed snippet of Anime. They’re imaginative and fun to watch, especially the Tag Team Combos.

Based on an arcade game of the same name, your goal in Koloomn is to eliminate blocks from a board by grouping like-colors together. You can rotate groups of four blocks left and right. Lining up four pieces of the same color makes the pieces disappear from the board. As the four pieces are disappearing, you can continue connecting more pieces to the group, adding to a growing chain of piece annihilation. You can add an additional row with a quick button press (this is an advanced technique for those who don't have enough pieces to make combos), although rows are also added automatically as time progresses. If your stack of blocks hits the top of the screen, you lose!
This game was released as Kollon in Japan for the PSP launch. For later the US edition, the anime-styled game was improved with wireless play for 2 players (by developer ArtDink, from MagicPot's original Japanese/Korean version.) Also features 8 characters as well as VS CPU, Campaign and Tutorial modes.
